Nissan Repair: 1987 nissan pathfinder, nissan pathfinder, firing order

Question
my brother in law bought a 87 Nissan pathfinder that was having problems about 3 months ago. he got tired of working on it and said i can have it if i could get it running right. I had diagnostics run on it because it wasn't producing enough power to get up a hill in first gear. they came back with split plug wires. that helped a lot but it still runs rough and does not have the power it should. do you have any idea what could fix this. this pathfinder is a six cylinder 5 speed.

Answer
it sounds to me like your firing order isnt correct.  unfortunatly i havent had too many chances to work on the early vg motors but i do know they run like a champ when running right.  i suggest buying new plugs, wires, rotor and cap and find out where the wires are supposed to go.  make sure that your plugs are gapped to spec.  autozone or advanced auto should have all the proper information for you, including firing order.  i really belive this is all thats wrong with the truck.  i hope you get it running, they are hard to kill.  good luck and let me know the outcome. xxp_sebby@yahoo.com.  thanks.
