Nissan Repair: Re:my driver side wiper doesnt work, nissan altima, wiper blade

Question
QUESTION: Hi
How  are you? i need your great help in locating the problem and solution to fix it. I have Nissan Altima 2000 gxe. After a long drive i found my driver side wiper arm doest work. what could be the problem and how i can solve it. I appreciate if you could guide me to solve it please.

ANSWER: Hello Ibraham -

Normally when only one wiper arm does not operate, the linkage bushing has broken off. There are about 4 or 5 of them. The good news is it only costs a couple dollars for the part. The bad news is the access is very difficult. The cowl has to be removed and then the small area you have left is what you need to work with.

Are you planning on doing this yourself?

Answer
Hi Ibraham -

The passenger wiper arm comes off the same way as the drivers. Perhaps it needs a little more force to remove. Try rocking it back and forth, spray a little WD40, and ensure the wiper blade is up before attempting removal. Some times there is a little latch at the bottom.

The bushing has a male side, and a female side. The male side should go in first, and you would just snap it on the other side, which is the button on the linkage. FYI, If you snap the female side in first, you will never get the other side to lock. It helps to get a plier in there to help in pressing it together. The access is small, so a little patience and ingenuity will go a long way.

Hope thie helps -
