Nissan Repair: Electronic for 1995 Maxima, fuse box, positive cable

Question
My son recently connected the positive and negative lines
on my 1995 Maxima to the opposite terminals on the battery.
Now there are a bunch of things happening.  The power
window won't work, the care won't turn over at all, the
parking light won't come on.  These are just what we've
noticed so far.  We've changed the battery, which is a good
one, and checked the fuses.  If you know what happens when
this occurs and what we need to do to correct it would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Al

Answer
Hi Al -

There is another fuse box that handles all the large circuits of the vehicle. This is located in the engine compartment on the fenderwell. Go through those and check to see if any are blown.

Also, check the fusible link. It should be a part of the positive cable. Looks exactly like a wire, but it is designed to break if polarity is reversed. Inspect carefully because it may seem intact on the outside, but it is cut on the inside.

If you have a circuit light tester, that would be an optimun way to check it.

Hope this helps -
