Nissan Repair: 2000 Nissan Altima, coolant temperature sensor, nissan altima

Recently the check engine light came on (2000Nissan Altima) and I took it to Auotzone and got p1126 as a code reading.  After a bit of research I discovered that the problem was the thermostat or coolant temperature sensor.  I've replaced both but the light stays on.  Also disconnected the battery to reset but light is still on.  Any ideas?

Hi Marty -

The P1126 code is more like telling you that it is a function or a cause more than the sensor itself. Sensor failure usually is P1198 or P1199 code.

I guess I would look for proper cooling system operation, maybe flush the system, or ensure fans are working and you have good circulation.
