Nissan Repair: 2002pathfinder, manual shift, timing belt

Question
75000 on it runs great body excellent should i be worried about timing belt or chain not sure what it has. how long do they last an are there any signs or do they just let go

Answer
Hi Ron -

The pathfinder uses a belt. Usually I would recommend replacing the timing belt at 60,000 for manual shift vehicles and about where you are for automatic, although I have seen people at 100,000 belt still OK. Manual shift put extra strain on the engine due to sometimes erratic shifting, so the belt goes faster.

Anyway, no, there are no signs.

Hope this helps -
