Nissan Repair: 94 Altima Air Bags, desicion, air bags

My daughter who is very small had a slight front end collision with another Altima, her's is a 94 and the other was a later model. Her air bags went off as did his and she was hurt much more by the air bags than by the wreck. My mechanic now tells me I have to replace the air bag control and the air bags in order for this model to restart. The other car involved start right up even though the car was totaled. My question is: can I replace the air bag control and by pass the air bags themselves? I do not want the air bags replaced since that is what hurt my daughter. Or can I somehow by pass the control and get the car back running?

srs does not have to be connected in order for your vehicle to operate normally.   having said that, its up to you to make the moral desicion of putting your daughters life at risk in case this airbag might save her life in a different situation.   this is a debate i dont want to get into, but your answer is, yes you can remove this.
