Nissan Repair: auto, white smoke, alternator

Question
Its a 87 maxima. ran great. tried to start this morning. It
cranks, tries to start. White smoke from between alternator
and compressor. smells like mixture of electrical, fuel,
and exhaust. Wont start. I just got layed off my job. Help!
Thank you.

Answer
Alan,

Seems like either the compressor or the alternator is locked up.  I cannot think of anything that would make white smoke, other than a belt.  Loosen the belts and spin the pulleys and see what it frozen.  Replace the frozen part and it should start.  Email me back and let me know.
