Nissan Repair: 95 nissan maxima wipers, nissan maxima, cowl area

 My 95 Maxima wipers no longer work but I can hear the motor running at the various settings of intermittent. Is there a common linkage arm or something that broke while frozen? How would I access the linkage?

The linkage has come off in the cowl area, where the wiper arms connect with the motor.  You will need to remove the wiper arms and the cowl to access the working end that connects to the motor.  Usually, the ball clip pops off.  But, if it is broken source one from the wrecking yard or you could check with a dealer.  courtesyparts.com is a good and cheap source for parts.
