Nissan Repair: Speedometer Recalibration, speedometer gears, 2006 nissan frontier

Question
I recently changed tires on a 2006 Nissan Frontier SE w/V6 from the factory
265/70 16s to 245/50 16s. My speedometer now reads approximately 16%
higher than what the actual speed is. I have inquired to the local Nissan dealers
service technicians and they were of little or no help. How do you correct this
problem?

Answer
Wayne,

A couple of ways to recalibrate the speedometer here.  First, the guys at Nissan should have a Consult II or Consult III scantool that would do the job.  The other is to go to the Nissan parts department and ask them if they have different gears for the speed sensor.  Lastly, there are places on-line that have units that you can dial in.  http://www.alansperformance.com/unspcabox.html

Here is site that describes speedometer gears.  But, not for yours.  Just thought the info is of interest.
