Nissan Repair: Nissan Cefiro indicator (flasher) unit, nissan cefiro, turn signal flasher

Question
QUESTION: Hi Von;

my Cefiro's flasher unit seems to have died - no lights, clicking or otherwise.   Where eould you suggest I start looking? In the fuse box, and if so, where, or is it more likely to be a dead bi-metallic unit?  Many thanks!

ANSWER: Albie,

Yes, the first place is a dead flasher, bi-metallic unit.  If this part is good, it is located close to the steering column, under the dash, then check the flasher switch as it is interconnected to the turn signal unit and it would need to be replaced as an assembly.  Remember, flasher first and if it is good then the master switch on the column.

QUESTION: Thanks for confirming that; however, can you give me an idea what identifying marks or shape I can look for to confirm it, or maybe even a picture?  Appreciate your help!

Answer
Albie,

Click on the link and there are several photographs of Nissan flasher units.  I would first remove the panel under the steering wheel to get better access and then turn the flashers on and feel for the initial click.  Also, the turn signal flasher is different from the emergency flasher.  They are both located close to the steering column.
