Nissan Repair: 92Nissan Maxima SE Drivers side CV axle installation, nissan maxima se, nissan maxima

Question
Mr.Iwashita
I am having a hard time installing the drivers side axle on my 92 Nissan Maxima SE, can you offer me some advice on how it can be installed, and how will I know that it is fully inserted.  Thank you Joe

Answer
Hi Joe -

I assume this is the transmission side of the axle. First of all ensure that you have clearance to work. Try to move all the components away, linkage, strut tower, control arm, etc. Inspect the end of the axle and be sure that the splines are not damaged. Ensure also that it is indeed the right axle (there is a difference with ABS and non ABS).

Once you have it started, grasp the axle firmly and push it in the trans with some force. You will have to seat the c-clip. The way to tell if it is seated is to pull back on the axle gently. If it moves, then it is not seated yet. Repeat the process until you can get it to "snap" in. Sometimes a little grease on the clip will help.

Hope this helps you -
