Nissan Repair: 1997 villager-thermostat replacement, thermostat installation, radiator hose

Question
1997 villager-in cold weather, temp. gauge does not reach normal operating temp..Do you think thermostat is stuck in open position? If so, how do you replace the thermostat? Is it a difficult task?Thank You.

Answer
Hi Darren -

Yes, could be thermostat, also could be a faulty sending unit, but more than likely, if you replace your thermostat, you should be good to go.

Usually it is inside the water outlet of the bottom radiator hose. Remove the hose, and outlet (I think they are all 10mm bolts). Once removed, you will see the thermostat. Installation is reverse of removal.

Hope this helps -
