Nissan Repair: Auto climate control, auto car starter, 2004 nissan maxima

I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima and would like to disengage the "auto" climate control to allow 'manual' controlling only.  Is this possible?  How do I do it?  
I have an auto car starter and when I use it, the heat controls go to "auto" function which will allow heat to circulate through the car, but will not allow defrost to be enabled (due to 'auto' function).  How can I bypass this?

They do not even make manual controls for your Maxima that I am aware of.  If you could get someone with an OBD II Consult II or Consult III to plug in and get into programming control you might have a chance at changing the default.  Otherwise you would have to adapt a manual control to your blend door to force a hold at a non-auto defrost.
