Niss Murano '04 53K miles - Xenon headlight out, dealer says it's a $1200
command module repair and I have no other choices...? Are there really no other
options? Are there used modules anywhere? Can anyone else install?

I would take the car to an independent electrical automotive shop as it sounds like the ballast is blown .  Are both headlights out?  If so, it is the command module.  I would check rockauto.com or courtesynissan.com and have the part replaced independently by a shop like I mentioned.  Email me and let me know if both headlights are indeed out.
