Nissan Repair: 1997 NISSAN ALTIMA 4 CLNDR, nissan altima, temp guage

Question
QUESTION: COULD YOU PLEASE HELP ME MY COOLANT FANS DONT CUT OFF WHEN CUTTING OFF THE CAR MUST UNPLU THEM WHAT IS THAT?

ANSWER: Hi Frederica -

Can you answer some questions for me? How long was this going on? Has the fans always shut off after the ignition is turned off? Some models have the fans blowing for a few minutes if the car is hot, and then it shuts off.

What is the engine size of your vehicle, 1600?

Is the car running hot? Temperature gauge normal?

Could be a faulty cooling fan relay, but I will wait for you answers -

Thank you

Answer
Hello Frederica -

The only thing I can think of is that the cooling fan relay is getting stuck. Do you know if that was touched? Or, even if not, it needs to be checked.

I think this is located on the fender in the engine compartment with the large fuses and relays for the vehicle. Get a circuit light tester and check all wires to the relay (remove the relay). Turn the ignition on and check the wires again. One wire, probably a red color combo should be energized. Proceed to turn the ignition off. That wire then should not have power. If this is so, then it is probably the relay.

Let me know -
