Nissan Repair: Nissan Primera 2003 - no power on cold start, nissan primera 2003, air control valve

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I have a nissan primera 2003 model.
Near enough all mornings i go out to start the car and it rough idles, also as i set off as soon as i get anywhere near 1500rpm the engine just "juggers/jumps" and i have to change up gear. I think this may be a problem with the oxygen sensor, but i would just like some conformation. Any ideas? Thanks

ANSWER: Mike,

The idle air control valve or the cold start temperature sensor could be defective.  Those are the two most probable issues.

QUESTION: Hi,
I also forgot to mention that the "engine warning light" came on about a month ago. Ever since this problem started. Where are the idle air control valve and cold start temperature sensor, and how would i go about seeing if it is them that are the problem? I have searched a few forums and i have found a couple that have the same problem as me, and they all say that it is the oxygen sensor. I just dont want to be going out buying new parts and finding out that they are not the issue.
Many thanks for your help,
Mike

Answer
Mike,

If you have access to Autozone or Checker have them read the computer to see if any codes are stored.  An oxygen sensor should set the check engine light as well as the two sensors I mentioned.  Have the car codes read and email me back.  If you have 100K miles on the car it would be a good idea to change the oxygen sensors anyway...  They usually get weak after 100K miles.  Basically, they get coated and cause the engine to run rich and get bad mileage.
