Nissan Repair: 2002 Sentra sputtering, side kick panel, leaky injector

Question
I'm trying to diagnose a friend's car. It's a 2002 Sentra 1.8.You crank it up and it sputters and dies. I am old school so I crank it up and feather the gas and I can keep it running. It will only do this every couple of days.I'm thinking not the fuel pump or module, probably got good pressure, the only code that came up was the temp not up to specs. The thing I've noticed is a buzzing sound from the driver's side kick panel, like a wire when it's shorting out.I haven't got a manual yet so I don't know what to check or what it's called. Any ideas? Thank-you in advance,Marty Mabe

Answer
Marty,

Sounds like the fuel pump or relay that is screwing up.  You will have to get an adapter to check the fuel pressure.  Also, when you do the pressure test cut off the engine and see how fast the pressure leaks down.  That is, if a fuel injector is stuck open it could cause what you describe too.  So, if the pressure leaks off fast you will know you have a leaky injector or two.  That would require replacement of those injectors.
