Nissan Repair: No heat, thermostat, coolant

Question
So I dont have heat in my 02 altima. I bought a new thermostat at the parts store. Do I have to drain the fluid or can I just put the new part in??

Answer
Christy,

You can replace the thermostat without draining the coolant all the way.  What I would do is drain what you can and save it to refill the system.  You see, the coolant will drain to the level of the thermostat so you would loose some.  This way, you drain before you replace the thermostat and then add it back after the install.
