Nissan Repair: A/C odor, nissan sentra gxe, nissan sentra

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2003 Nissan Sentra GXE tha has a musty, sour smell when we run the A/C. Can you tell me what causes it and how do I eliminate this odor?

ANSWER: Hi Evelyn -

Most of the odors that the A/C has is generated from the evaporator core. This is located in the A/C ductwork of the vehicle interior, usually passenger side. It is a bear to get to, only if you have proper tools and some patience I would say the weekend mechanic can handle this job.

Once it is accessed, it can be disinfected and cleaned.

That should do the trick -
Let me know how it goes -

QUESTION: Thank you Calvin! My husband stuck one of his CDs in my CD player. After we listened to it for awhile he tried to eject it and it wouldn't come out. Every time we push the eject button we can hear sort of a clicking noise. Our son told us he has heard that this is a common problem with CD players which aren't used very often (which mine wasn't). What do you suggest?

Answer
Hi Evelyn -

When a CD disc fails to eject, it is usually the band that ties in the motor and the eject linkage within the player. It looks like a small rubber band. Your son is correct. If the Cd player is not used too often, the band slowly gets less flexible, especially when you park in the sun a lot. Chances are it broke.

Unfortunately, the entire player has to come out and disassembled to get to that band. Before attempting this, though, ensure you have the replacement band for it. It does look like a rubber band, but much more durable.

Thanks
