Nissan Repair: car stopped, distributor cap, timing belt

Question
i was driving my car and out of nowhere it turned off on me, i tried to start it
again and nothing, some mechanic told me it might be the distributor, the spark
plugs have been replaced, so has the starter, and alternator, so my question is if
that mechanic might be right or he's just trying to rip me off.

Answer
Hi Luis -

Please check if the timing belt broke. You did not tell me what kind of vehicle you have, so I can just give you some generics -

Remove the distributor cap and turn the engine. Let me know if the rotor is turning. If not, then the timing belt went out. If it is, get back to me and I will take you to the next step.

Let me know -
