Nissan Repair: help, nissan pathfinder, excess fuel

my 1988 nissan pathfinder se is smoking black with a scent of fuel and consume a lot of fuel.

Hi Peter -

Looks like your engine is running very rich. Pull your spark plugs and check to see if it is fouled black. If it is, replace them. If your engine is carbureted, check the float. If injected, check to see if the nozzles are not stuck open.

Somehow there is excess fuel entering your chamber.

Is the car running rough? Any engine codes displayed?
