Nissan Repair: Digital clock sporadic operation, volt bulbs, back lighting

Hi - read your post to the owner of the 1994 Max with an inop digital clock and dash lights.  My 1991 Max also has the same clock problem, intermittent illum but keeps good time - could the cause be the same, i.e. is the circuitry similar to the 1994 car?  Thanks!

If the clock works and the back lighting is intermittent I would either source a wrecking yard one or backprobe the power to the light and make sure it is the clock and not the power.  If it is the power splice into the radio harness light.  If it is the clock light go to Radio Shack or the like and get a couple of 12 volt bulbs you can solder in to allow for proper operation.
