Nissan Repair: 1994 Nissan Quest oil pressure light, mile oil changes, oil pressure switch

Question
Hi!  My Nissan Quest stalled out completely this morning, and all the check engine lights, etc. came on.  After a moment I restarted the van and drove home, but the oil pressure light kept flickering.  (I'm very worried I'll have another stall-out.)  Any ideas on what could have suddenly caused this?  Note:  Oil level is fine, I fairly recently had a fuel injector flush, replaced my fuel filter, and got a tune-up, but not recent enough to have had anything to do with this.

Answer
Susanna,

If the oil pressure light is flickering you need to make sure you have replaced the oil at regular intervals.  3000 to 5000 mile oil changes.  Now, that you are sure the oil is clean replace the oil pressure sensor and you should be fine.  The computer uses the oil pressure as an indication of the engine running.  If the oil pressure light is coming on that means it is defective or clogged up and needs to be replaced.  If replacement of the oil pressure switch does not fix the light the engine needs to be looked at as it is an indication of low oil pressure and does not mean the engine needs oil.  So, replace the switch and most of the time it corrects the problem.  Email me back if you need more.
