Nissan Repair: Head lights not working properly, nissan datsun, headlamp switch

Question
My headlights on my 1991 nissan datsun ute, two lights go on low beam none on hight beam.  Sometimes i get one light on low beam. What would the problem be. thanks

Answer
Hi Warren -

Most likely the headlamps need to be replaced. You have 2 filaments in each bulb, one for high beam, and one for low beam.

The check is simple. Get a light type circuit tester and check voltage at the lamp terminal where it plugs into the light. There should be 3 terminals. One should have power at low beam, and 2 should have power at high beam. If this is correct, then replace the lamps.

If not, then check the fuses and the headlamp switch.

Hope this helps
