Nissan Repair: Overheating, nissan 240sx, electric cooling fan

Question
QUESTION:  I have a 95 nissan 240sx with 198000 miles. it overheats after ten minutes of driving. when it does the radiator hose is rock hard. when i open the cap it lets the coolant into the overflow but it doesn't take it back up when it cools back down.
So far I have changed the thermostat, radiator, radiator cap,back-flushed the radiator, and water pump was replaced about 6 months ago. There is no water in the oil and visa versa so probably not the head gasket. The converter has been replaced with a pipe. the coolant is fresh mixed at 50/50
What next?

ANSWER: Hi Enoch -

Have you checked your cooling fan? Let me know if you did, if you did not, let me know if you would like troubleshoooting advice.

Thanks

QUESTION:  Already replaced the fan clutch 9 months ago. what else should I look for?

Answer
Hi Enoch -

Don't you have an electric cooling fan?

Check the circulation of water. With the engine cold, remove the radiator cap and run the vehicle. Note when and if the thermostat opens. When it is warmed up, feel the top hose and the bottom hose. They both should be hot. If the upper hose is hot and lower is cold, then there is no circulation - perhaps the water pump (unlikely), or a defective thermostat. Another way to check circulation is remove the stat and check to see if the water moves around in the radiator.

If it overheats after only 10 minutes of driving, it has to be lack of circulation, or cooling fan.

Let me know -
