Nissan Repair: 1991 Nissan 240sx SuperHicas electrical, nissan 240sx, doomsayer

Question
I just had the alternator replaced in my car and now the battery and ebrake light are on. Brake fluid levels are good but the car is dead on the side of the road. I didn't get a chance to check all the fuses. Could it be the ECCS relay? The hicas light is the doomsayer. When it comes on the car's lights flicker and then it stalls out. Car will boost, but dies quickly.

Answer
Hilary,

The new alternator is defective or it was installed incorrectly or the master fuse/fuse link from the alternator is blown.  Those are the three choices that could cause the problem you describe.  Before you kill the ECM jumping the car have the battery charged fully and go to Autozone or Checker, if you live in the US, or your local electrical shop and get the system checked for output.  I bet there is none and since the alternator replacement you have been running off the battery.  Jumping a Nissan with a dead battery can lead to ECM failure.  I know since I have replaced several ECMs from cars being dead and being repeatedly jump started.
