Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Push Lawn Mower, mower blade, assembly diagram

Question
I forgot to mention I never worked on any type of engine and know only some basic things.

Where is the crankcase vent on this engine?  I did not hit anything with the mower, i did tip it rear-end up for a few seconds to get some grass from under it. I do have the engine diagram for reference.

Hello

I have a 5 yr old craftsman, push mower with tech engine (model no. 143.016702).

It worked fine last week (the things always starts on first pull with about 10 primes, recommended 3 never worked), i got the blade off to sharpen it, put it back on and now it wont start.

The plug sparks RJ19LM (faint but I figure that should be ok) and when its out the pull is nice and smoooth.  When I put the plug back in, the pull is jerky and hard (compression?) and nothing happens.

I drained the tank, put new gas in, tried starting with air filter off, oil is at ok level, the blade spins and thats about it...

Any help is appreciated...

 Hello Ajk:

Check the Crankcase Vent. If it Got Oil into it it will Cause this Problem. Has the Mower Blade Hit Anything? Which way did the Mower get Tilted, Please? Thanks.

 Respectfully

 John

Answer
 Hello Ajk:

On Page 1 of 5 the Crankcase Vent is Identified as Breather Assembly (diagram #7) Is the Blade Tight? On some Mowers if the Blade Becomes Loose you will have the Problem you Described. The Only other thing would be the Flywheel Key being Damaged. It can Only be Inspected by Removing the Flywheel. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
