Nissan Repair: cv joints, cv joints, haynes manual

Question
I have a knoking sound that only happens when I am in motion and turning. I believe it is the CV joints and am goign to do the work myself. what all parts needs to be replaced. I am trying to price. would it be the whole axle or the boot or both?

Answer
Candice,

A set of rebuilt CV driveshafts are the first thing.  Next, you will need the large socket that goes on the end of the CV driveshaft.  Your local parts store should have that and the rest are regular metric tools.  You will need to get the car aligned after you replace the CV driveshafts since the spindle has to be disconnected from the strut.  A Haynes Manual or the like should be more than sufficient to show the steps and diagrams.
