Nissan Repair: dash lights do not work - Nissan pulsar n14, dashboard light, nissan pulsar

Hi,
I just replaced the car stereo and after putting the dashboard back the dashboard 'night lights' do not come on.  So the car runs fine, and the headlights go on, but when the headlights are turned on the the light for the speedo and the gear shift do not go on.  I pulled the dashboard off and could not see anything wrong.  I am plugging the dashboard light fader/controller back in, though I haven't checked this plug with a volt meter.

Hi Duncan -

Assuming that the dimmer (fader) is turned all the way to the right, the next step is to check the fuse. Perhaps in replacing the stereo the cirucit got shorted somehow, especially if the dimmer was touched.
