Nissan Repair: 97 nissan Sentra A/c, nissan sentra, expansion valve

Question
My 97 sentra A/C works fine for 10 minutes to an hour then stops blowing cold air. The low side pressure drops but the system is hissing like the high side is clogged. Once the car sits awhile the A/C works again. Any advice?

Answer
Jerry,

The expansion valve is sticking and needs to be replaced.  A pain to get to since it is under the dash in the blower case.  The part costs around $50 bucks.  But, the system has to be evacuated and the case removed and disassembles and reassembled and then recharged.
