in my  nissan pickup my time belt seems lose why?

First of all, what is the mileage on the car? Are you the original owner?

Timing belts should be replaced every 60,000 miles. They are only rubber, so yes, they do stretch. It is also wise to replace the water pump at the same time, as it is right behind the belt.
