Nissan Repair: Changing Distributor, nissan altima, car jumps

Question
Hey, I have a 1995 Nissan Altima with 195,000 miles. Sometime around last week I noticed my distributor was leaking oil, I prayed it was not an internal leak. I opened it up and sure enough it was. Now I put it back on and closed it up, I didn't move anything around to try to keep the timimg. Now, one week later, I turn on my car and pop it in gear. It started jumping as if there was nothing holding my engine to the car. I know I have to change the distributor but what caused the jumping? The engine jumps even when in nuetral, but the whole car jumps in gear. I parked it and gave it some gas and while at 3000 RPM and above it doesn't shake. Can you help me? Thanks

Answer
Hi Carlos -

Need more information.
You say after a week it started jumping. during that week, was it running OK?

When you say jumping, is that like a spark plug missing?

Did you clean out your distributor? What kind of cleaner did you use?

There is an o ring around the shaft of the dist. Did you replace that?

Please let me know
thanks
