Nissan Repair: Replacing starter on 94 1.6 L Nissan Sentra, nissan sentra, flex head

Question
I am 99% sure the starter needs to be replaced on my car. It is an automatic, 1994 Nissan Sentra with a 1.6 . How would I do this? Where is the starter exactly.. ? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Jesi -

The starter should be located near or under the manifold of the car. The easiest way is to follow the positive cable of the battery and you should run right into it. Disconnect the battery before removing the starter. You have 3 or 4 bolts, I think all 14MM. Get to it using a flex head ratchet, extensions, and sometimes a universal socket. Also have universal sockets available. There are 2 wires that connect to the starter, one that goes to the battery, and the other to run the solenoid, smaller in gauge.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

Hope this helps -
