Nissan Repair: long bolt on trans filter, bolt, screws

Question
took off old filter. Putting on new one. the long bolt doesnt engage with anything. Did a nut fall off in side somewhere?  Do I have to pull the motor and disassemble it to fix this?

Hi Ned -

I am not sure what year and make your vehicle is, so I can only give you generic thoughts. There is no nut on the other side. Have you tried another hole? Sometimes the screws are hole specific. If not, you may need to keep on trying, as it should go in. Ensure it is aligned properly.
