Nissan Repair: Nissan Pulsar (1990) N13 Stalling Problem, nissan pulsar 1990, nissan pulsar

Question
Hi Calvin,

Just recently bought a Nissan pulsar 1990's model and it has been running great until recently.
The car stalls when driving and also when idling about once or twice a day normally when up to temperature. I took it to a garage to get an engine tune up and that has not fixed the problem, I thought that it could be the petrol filter or the air filter. I checked the distributor cap and there was a little bit of oil in there which I cleaned out. I recently drove the car (before the problem started) with the oil cap off about 10 mins down the road (its my first car and I have made a few mistakes trying to do the right thing!), but after that I degreased my engine and rinsed it with water (covering the distributor and battery etc...) Could there still be oil in the distributor and would it need replacing or could I just clean it? Is there anything that N13s normally need replacing at a little over 180000 kms?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
Regards
Andrew Stapleton

Answer
Hi Andrew -

thry replacing the ignition module in the distributor. The dostributor would have to be removed to access it. A lot of times, when the engine gets warmed up, this module cuts out, killing the engine.

Hope this helps =
