Nissan Repair: Keyless entry, keyless entry pad, body control module

I was looking through your forum for a way to fix my keyless entry pad on my car when I found your question about a master reset code for it. I know your question is a year old but just in case you don't have your answer yet, here's detailed website on how to.

My question to you is:  
Why is my keypad not lit up or working on my drivers side and what would you recommend I check first?
I know this isn't your area but anything advice would help.

If the other door works it should not be the body control module.  I would suggest getting another door keypad for the driver's door.  You could pull the door panel and look at the wiring.  But, getting it on a bench I am sure you will find one of the buttons shorted out.
