Question
I had Problem starting my car first I was told it was the battery post that was corroded  still sometimes had access to radio and power windows it just. I replaced it still would not start then had battery checked told it was bad had  it replaced. I went to auto zone to have my alternator checked just in case and told it was good and no other error sensor showing my battery light still stayed on then the next day it started then just died about 20 minutes later while at work in neutral it would just click. I got a jump and now it seems to be starting again no problem the next 2 times I started it.

Answer
Hi Cat -

Are you sure the alternator checks out OK? Sure sounds like it is not charging - PLease check 2 things and get back to me:

1. There is a fuse and relay box located near the battery. Normally it has a black plastic cover. Remove the cover and you will see the engine's large fuse circuits, one of them should be labeled "ALT" or "CHG". Ensure the fuse is intact (check the metal lead. If it is burnt, then replace the fuse).

2. Do a field check on your alternator. Ensure the battery is fully charged. Connect a voltmeter to the battery. It should read 12V. Start the engine and check the voltage again, If the alternator is working, it should read 13 or 14V. Turn your headlights on high beam and check again, the voltage should not drop, and remain at 14V.

Please let me know the results -
thanks
