Nissan Repair: 98 Maxima, crank angle sensor, fuse panel

Question
QUESTION: We are still trying to get this maxima to run.  When it is between 1500-2000 rpms it will not start. It spits and pops back like the timing is too high but it isn't. But yet if it is less than 1500 rpms it starts and runs like a champ!  We are so frustrated. Do you have any suggestions of what to do.  there was a P1105 code but I think that  has been cleared. Please we need help desperately.  thank you for your time!

ANSWER: Jan,

If the MAP sensor has not been replaced do so.  That lets the engine know what kind of load is being applied to the engine and also how to idle properly.  Also, be sure to do a tuneup and replace the sparkplugs.

QUESTION: After further evaluation the car is not firing. Sparkplugs have been replaced when you take 1 spark plug out then check for firing it will fire occasionally and sometimes will start. There are no codes. If it was a map sensor would codes show for this. Would a map sensor cause this kind of problem.  Thank you a million times because at least we feel we are not quite alone with your expertise.

Answer
Jan,

If you have no spark you will need to backprobe the harness to see why you are not getting power.  Crank angle sensor, but that should show a code.  Check the master ignition fuses at both the battery and the fuse panel.  Email me back with what you find.
