Nissan Repair: Faulty overheat reading, gauge cluster, correct temperature

Question
My 1999 Frontier is giving a faulty "Hot" reading on the guage.  I have replaced the sensor and the connector at the sensor.  Any suggestion on the next trouble shooting step?  It is a 2.4 4 cylinder.  Thanks

Answer
Jeff,

First, make sure you have replaced the correct temperature sensor.  Second, if you have replaced the correct sensor, then check with a thermal gun to verify.  If this is correct and the temperature is correct check the gauge cluster to make sure it is reading correctly.  Probably need to replace the gauge if all the other gauges read correctly.
