Could you tell me what the valve clearances are on this engine ? 2.5 NA diesel engine, 1999.

From memory, I think you are looking at .015 on the exhaust and .014 on the exhaust.  I would look under the hood for the sticker that has the valve clearance listed.  If it is not making a tapping noise leave it alone.  And, remember if it is too tight the valve will not close all the way, You can remove the valve cover and reinstall what you need to get the engine started and look and listen.  Remember that the exhaust and intake are usually different.  THe exhaust is usually looser since the valve gets hotter and the gap closes when it gets hot.  Again, there is no need to adjust the valves unless they are making noise.
