Nissan Repair: 1990 Nissan Sunny Hatchback Door, latch assembly, actuator

Hi, I recently bought a 1989-90 Nissan Sunny 4 Door + Hatchback. The hatchback door was working fine and was left unlocked before. Now, it will not open/unlock. The key turns halfway to the right and still the button will not go in to open the hatchback door. Is there a way to release it from the inside?? What do I need to do?

You will need to first get it unlocked.  Then, you will need to take the linkage a part and then look at the actuator and rod.  Either the rod is bent or the linkage has come off.  Another cause will be that the latch assembly is worn out.  Check these out and email me back with what you find and we'll go from there.
