Nissan Repair: 89 Nissan Pathfinder will not shift into drive., nissan pathfinder, carquest

I have a 1989 Nissan Pathfinder SE with automatic transmission. It will shift from 1st to second, but not into drive. It doesn't slip, just refuses to shift. Any ideas what might be causing it? We have checked the brake fluid, and also tried manually shifting from 2nd to drive.

Does this happen all the time, or only when the engine is cold? When was the last time you replaced your trans oil? and filter?

Anyway, what has really work for me in the past (even with no shift conditions) is an additive called AT204. In Hawaii, Carquest has it, or you can google it and get it where ever your local store is at. The additive really works.

However, if you do the service on your trans, that should help a great deal.
