Nissan Repair: 96 altima brake lights stay on, brake light switch, rubber stopper

Question
Please help. Brake lights will not go out. I changed the stop light switch, and the rubber stopper on the pedal, and this didn't help.I have a 96 Altima and have to remove the fuse when not driving. Thanks

Answer
Drew,

If the brake lights will not turn off I would assume you replaced the shifter interlock switch instead of the brake light switch.  There are two up under the dash and they are a pain to get to.  Unplug each and see which one kills the brake lights.  Replace or adjust that switch.  There is no other source of power for the brake lights.
