Nissan Repair: 300zx, kill swich, gasoline tank

Question
QUESTION:   I have left a 300zx sitting for two years.  i returned to find the cluch fluid drained.  I refiled it and bleed the slave and cluch damper.  but i think there is a cluch kill swich that isnt being released.  the starter wont do anything.  the car wont start at all.  what could i be dealing with please?

ANSWER: Hi Cameron -

You did not say if the engine turns - if it doesn't:

First of all, 2 years is a mighty long time. And, if the car has not been run, then chances are slim for revival. Firt thbing I would like you to check is if the engine is frozen. Get a long handle 1/2" drive ratchet and I think a 3/4" socket and, attach it to the center bolt on the damper. Try to turn the engine manually with this method. If the engine does not budge, it is not worth going further. Was the vehicle left outside?

If the car does turn, then you need to check the following:

Does the car start if you prime the intake with gas? (don't worry if the car does not idle, the gas is stale, so you will need to drain the gasoline tank and refill with fresh gas)

Please get back to me after you do these tests -

QUESTION: Thnx calvin.  good advice.  the engine dosent turn.   to answer you question.  thats the proper way to explain it. I checked to see if the engine is frozen.  the center bolt turned with minimal effort all the way around.  so its good.  I looked superficially at the starter, the wires looked secure and sound.  Do you know if the clutch has a kill switch that wont allow the engine to start unless the clutch is depressed all the way?  and if so , how can i build pressure up in the hydrolic clutch to activate it?  thank you for your time.

The clutch does have a kill switch, however it is not run by fluid pressure, but by pedal position. It rarely goes, but you can bypass it by crossing the wires at the switch. I think it is at the top of your clutch pedal.

Before that, though, I would check the starter. Get a 12V light circuit tester and check the power to the starter (this is the large red cable). Secondly, check power to the smaller wire going to the solenoid (this must be checked while someone is turning the key as if to start the car). If the light illuminates, replace the starter. Also, if that light illuminates, the kill switch is OK.

Let me know -
