where is the expansion valve located and what needs to be removed to get to it?

The expansion valve is in the line closest to the evaporator so that passenger side of the dash has to come out to get to it and then the blower case has to be seperated to get to the evaporator. Remove the glovebox first and then you will see the case and the parting line and all the screws and clips.  Disconnect the lines on the firewall side and drop the case and part it and you will get to what you need to facilitate the replacement.
