Nissan Repair: 1996-Nissan Sentra, nissan sentra, oiling system

I have a 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE. Yesterday it started making a diesel engine kind of noise when i start it, and now today whenever I press the gas petal my car makes a ticking/knocking noise. What do you think is wrong?

Check the oil to make sure there is oil in the engine and also to make sure there is oil pressure.  If the oiling system is good then check the timing and ignition to make sure it is within specifications.  Email me back with what you find...
