Question
Hi,
My mechanic told me that yellow check engine lights indicates "knock sensors" (?) and air valve problem. Few months ago his diagnostic machine showed problem with emission. The light stayed on up to date and is still on. He replaced the gas tank  cap as my wife and I suggested. She also told me to tell him to blow the fuse and stop bothering (: He wants me to bring my car again. Any help available? Thank you,
Ondrej

Answer
Hi Ondrej

The CEL comes on for many reasons, as it is governed by many, many sensors. Your vehicle is over a decade old, so There are many factors that could cause that light to be on.

First of all, I would try to reset the CEL, by either removing the ECM, or computer fuse for about 30 seconds. You may also remove the battery cable negative side for same duration.

Once this is done, restart the car and see if the light returns.

Many of these trouble codes are what I call "nuisnace" alarms and really don't mean a thing. I have known clients to drive with this light on for years.

If you ask my opinion, if the car runs great, so be it.

Hope this helps -
aloha
