Nissan Repair: 2002 Nissan Xterra tail lights fuse, nissan xterra, brake light switch

my 2002 xterra tail lights fuse keeps blowing.  I've replaced them 8 times.  They do not last longer than 1minute.  What can be wrong, is it popular on Xterras to have this problem

The brake light switch can be shorting causing the fuse to pop or the trailer harness could be pinched or grounding and lastly a socket on either light could be shorted as well.  It is just a matter of checking each and looking for the short.  If none is found then it gets interesting with a test light and a volt ohm meter.
