Nissan Repair: auto trans, nissan 240sx, brand new hope

Question
I have a auto 1991 nissan 240sx w/super hicas. I had an used auto trans put in about 1.5 yrs ago due to the other's pump going out. The used trans was from a 1990 model. It has been running fine till about 2 months ago. It wait till around 4000 to shift to the next gear. It does not slip, or make noises of any kind. When it does shift, it acts normal, except the fact that the higher rpm's make it shift a little harder than normal. Is there anything I can do from home or do I need to take it to the shop? I also have a starter problem also that has plagued me for about 2 yrs now. It click's the solenoid when I turn the key. I have power and everything, but it clicks and starts when it get's the gear around far enough. I can tell when it will start by the sound of the click. The click usually sounds real clean and clear and when it gets close, the click sounds more muffled and then it's about 2 clicks after that it starts. I have went through 3 different used starters, 1 rebuilt starter. Could it be to just get a factory new starter?   thanks for all yuor appreciated help.......Jason

Answer
Hi Jason -

It seems your trans does need some shop wprk, however, if you can get your hands on a prduct called AT205, try putting this additive in the trans. In the past it has helped countless times to improve dirveability as far as transmission. Even cured a no shift condition. It is sold here in Hawaii through Carquest. If you have difficulty finding this, let me know.

As far as the starter, I would suggest new. Does not have to be factory, but brand new.

Hope this helps -
