Nissan Repair: 98 Nissan Altima Clutch Stiff, nissan altima, clutch

Question
Can the stiffness of the clutch be adjusted?  It takes more force to depress the clutch petal than my wife is comfortable with.

Answer
Hi Mark -

Unfortunately, clutch stiffness cannot be adjusted, as the amount of force it takes to press the clutch is coming from the pressure plate, located in the transmission. You can try to look at the pedal and lubricate the shaft, that mighht help a little. Was the clutch replaced already? If you have a good number of miles since the last clutch change (I say about 100K - 120K), might as well replace it, and the pressure plate.

Hope this helps -
